Dental Bridges

Missing teeth are very visible! Those absent white shapes make a person look older and less healthy. They also cause undesirable things to happen among the remaining teeth. Your teeth will slowly migrate to fill the gaps, putting themselves out of alignment. Misaligned teeth can be harder to keep clean. They can also give you a bad bite.
When a tooth root is missing, there’s a hidden gap within the jawbone. This causes undesirable things to happen to the jawbone. It slowly shrinks (resorbs) to fill the gap and this changes the shape of your jaw. It gives a shrunken look, which makes a person look older, especially if there is more than one missing tooth.
In some cases, missing teeth can affect your speech and your nutrition.
Dental bridges are a good solution
A bridge is a false tooth that’s anchored in the mouth in one of four ways.
- Traditional bridge
The false tooth is suspended in the gap and held in place by a crown over each of the two neighboring teeth. - Cantilevered bridge
The false tooth is held in place by metal bands to two crowns on one side of it. This type is used when the missing tooth has a neighboring tooth on only one side. - Maryland bonded bridge
This type has false gums as well as the false tooth and is held in place by metal wings on each side, connected to the neighboring teeth. - An implant-supported bridge
One or more dental implants can anchor several missing teeth without any metal bands, and without any healthy neighboring teeth having to be shaved back for a crown.
Missing teeth lead to many dental problems, which are all avoidable if you visit your dentist early on. It’s better for you not to delay and allow teeth to move out of position and bone tissue to resorb. A healthier, more pleasing smile is available, and more easily than you may think!
In these days of modern cosmetic dentistry, there are virtually no dental problems that can’t be solved. No matter how severe you may feel your problem is, or no matter how unimportant you may rate it, it’s always a good idea to consult with an experienced cosmetic dentist and learn about your options.
