People notice your teeth when you smile. And when they notice your teeth, they also take note of stains and imperfections. These stains caused by pigmented foods and drink can be lightened with take-home whitening trays, but the results are often uneven or might take longer than you’d like.
Dr. Loye now offers Deep Bleaching to keep your teeth whiter for a much longer time. Deep Bleaching is a type of power bleaching and can remove stains left by coffee, black tea, or red wine, but it can also help whiten teeth stained by tetracycline as the teeth were forming. Deep Bleaching has the added benefit of lessening or eliminating the sensitivity that some people feel with other tooth whitening products and procedures.
Procedure
Dr. Loye can perform the Deep Bleaching whitening procedure in two visits. However, the two weeks in between visits will require the custom trays used at home.
- After examining your teeth, Dr. Loye will make molds to be used as models for your customized trays. To condition your teeth for the Deep Bleaching, he will place a hydrogen peroxide gel on them, which will help them absorb oxygen. To de-sensitize them, he will apply a seal.
- For two weeks you will sleep with the Deep Bleaching trays on your teeth. A carbamide peroxide bleaching gel does the work. After 14 days, you will see just how bright your smile can get. If you have tetracycline or other deep stains, you may have to wear the trays for a longer period of time.
- For your second Deep Bleaching, Dr. Loye will apply another round of hydrogen peroxide gel to your teeth for one hour. After this, you will see your teeth whiten even more.
Deep Bleaching can potentially have permanent results if you have good oral hygiene. Using the Deep Bleaching trays periodically can keep your teeth as white as the day you left your second appointment. It’s all in the technique. With the right combination of gels, a specifically designed, well fitting tray, and proper application of the process, the results can be amazing.
